Throughout 2006 to 2012, Super Mario Bros. Z proved to be an immensely popular series, having gained millions of views on YouTube and Newgrounds alike, as well as much acclaim for setting the standard for sprite animation on the web. As a result, many up-and-coming sprite animators became inspired to create spin-offs, reboots or otherwise similar series. These fan projects continued up until 2015, when Alvin himself announced the rebooted series, however, some of these still continue today.

The following projects can be found in numerous locations, though Newgrounds and YouTube are the most common platforms as they officially host the original episodes:
