Mecha Mario is a robotic double of Mario built by Bowser's "secret assistant." He had appeared only once, briefly in the beginning of Episode 7. What Mecha Mario's exact role during the series' 2006 run is unknown. He might have been the secret weapon Bowser said he had aboard the Omega Doomship in Episode 8 and would have likely appeared in later episodes aboard the Doomship.

Biography[]

At some point prior to Episode 7, Bowser met a mysterious scientist who informs him of the Chaos Emeralds. Forming an alliance, Bowser commissioned two secret weapons from the scientist: the Omega Doomship and Mecha Mario.

When Bowser was informed by Kammy that Mario was searching for the Chaos Emeralds and had found a number of them, he decides to take the initiative. He would invade the Mushroom Kingdom and kidnap Princess Peach while Mario and his friends are away so he may hold her as ransom to acquire the emeralds the heroes have gathered. In preparation for his invasion plan, he proceeds to check on the progress of his new weapons. While the Omega Doomship was not complete, the mysterious, shadowy scientist pleasantly confirmed Mecha Mario was fully functional and ready.

While it never makes an appearance again, it is likely this Mecha version of Mario would've made for an imposing threat.

Trivia[]

  • It's implied that Dr. Eggman created Mecha Mario not only to serve Bowser's purposes against the Mario Bros. and Sonic and Shadow, but as a counter/contingency plan against Mecha Sonic, being aware that his rogue creation was running amok in the Mushroom Kingdom and out of revenge for his betrayal/fear of further harm.
  • In Mario Kart Arcade, Professor E. Gadd built a robotic doppelganger of Mario named Robo-Mario, albeit as a benevolent racer with a less-imposing design.
